Overview

This is an example consultation for demonstration purposes only. This site is operated by Delib Ltd and submitted responses will be discarded. This is an example of a real consultation, run by Leicester City Council between 14th September and 7th December 2020

The urban area of Leicester is one of the fastest growing areas in the country, with a diverse population of about 650,000. Planning for the future involves anticipating future growth and making decisions about where we allow more development for homes and jobs, as well as identifying the built and natural heritage that we need to protect.

In 2019 the government published the revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). The NPPF requires local planning authorities to support sustainable development and to plan positively for it by preparing new Local Plans.

Since 2014, the council has undertaken a range of consultation exercises on various stages of developing its local plan. These consultations have considered all aspects of planning policy, although the fundamental focus has always been around the level of growth and how growth is delivered.

Leicester City Council has now produced a draft local plan which sets out the vision and objectives for growth of the city over the next 15 years.

The plan will:

  • Allocate strategic and non-strategic development sites
  • Set clear policies that guide decisions on planning applications
  • Indicate how the plan will be delivered.

Whether your interests lie in local neighbourhoods, the city centre, transport, housing, employment, shopping or the environment, please share your views and help to shape the future of Leicester.

Please note that the closing date for this consultation is provisional and may be extended.
